24th Annual Confections in Chocolate Celebrates "The Senior Prom!"
The Confections in Chocolate gala was held on March 10th at the Wolferts Roost Country Club in Menands, NY. We are pleased to announce the event raised almost $70,000! Visit our Photo Gallery to view more photos of the event... The theme this year was the "Senior Prom" and what a memorable night it was! We celebrated the music and styles from over the year's and, yes, there were even blue and white tuxes! Everyone had fun reliving, redoing, or going to their first "Senior Prom!" Several couples came with their original prom date. They were inducted into the "Prom Court". The Prom King and Queen were Kelly and Rick Alfred, our 2012 Flame of Hope Award recipients.
The Flame of Hope Award is presented at Confections in Chocolate each year to recognize the outstanding contributions made to the Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York by an individual(s) and/or business. We are pleased to announce this year's recipients: Kelly and Rick Alfred Kelly and Rick have been generous supporters of the Foundation for many years. Kelly served on our board of directors, including the role of Vice President. They continue to attend and sponsor our annual fundraising gala, Confections in Chocolate, as well as our annual golf tournament. Their participation and support of our endeavors helps raise awareness of epilepsy and helps fund the programs and services we provide to individuals affected by epilepsy. We are grateful for their continued support and generosity.
Also introduced were our 2012 Winning Kids, Madison Santanta and Joseph Furlong. Learn more about our Winning Kids... Phil Bayly, anchor for NewsChannel 13, returned as Master of Ceremonies. The evening began with a cocktail hour which included a chocolate fountain with goodies provided by www.WeDoFondue.com Chocolate Fountain Rentals, followed by dinner, music by Music Machine Entertainment, dancing and an assortment of exquisite chocolate desserts donated by local pastry chefs and restaurants, the highlight of the evening!
Joan's Cake Chateau won as "Best Themed Dessert"! Over 100 silent auction packages were available for bidding as well as several live auction items. Legrande Serras provided his services once again as Auctioneer. Such items included overnight packages, jewelry provided by Hannoush Jewelers, dinners at local restaurants, sports memorabilia, and many more!
