2013 Flame of Hope Recipient

The Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York introduced the Flame of Hope Award in 2011 to recognize the outstanding contributions made to the Foundation by individuals and/or businesses.  This is a prestigious award we are pleased to present each year at the Confections in Chocolate gala.

We are pleased to announce the selection of Eugene Nachamkin, Ph.D., as the recipient of the 2013 Flame of Hope Award.  Dr. Nachamkin has been an active member of the Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York Board of Directors since 2004, serving as President of the Board from 2007 to 2011 and currently serves on the Epilepsy Foundation National Board of Directors.  

Under his leadership as board president of the northeastern New York affiliate, the organization achieved national "Standards of Excellence", opened a satellite office in the Upper Hudson Valley and launched a "Care and Cure Fund" to raise funds for epilepsy research. 

Dr. Nachamkin has been instrumental in raising revenue for the Epilepsy Foundation through the introduction of new corporate sponsors and donors.  He has also increased the awareness of epilepsy and the programs we provide to the community through his outreach efforts. 

Dr. Nachamkin will receive the 2013 Flame of Hope Award at the Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York's 25th Annual Confections in Chocolate Gala on Saturday, March 9th. 

Dr. Nachamkin is the third recipient of this award.  He follows Kelly and Rick Alfred (2012) and Stephen Baboulis, General Manager of NewsChannel 13 (2011).
