The chronic nature of epilepsy affects families emotionally and financially. That's why we offer free counseling to help ease the stress for everyone in the household because all family members are affected.
Our program, which is designed to empower individuals to manage their disorder and adjust to the impact of epilepsy on their lives, is highly individualized and is available for adults, children and families.
The Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York offers counseling to individuals and families for a variety of social and personal issues, related to, but not limited to, seizure disorders. These issues may include:
We provide therapy for individuals, families and children. We also provide various support groups. Current offerings include an Adult Support Group, a Women's Support Group and a Parent Family Network. Topics for the groups vary and in the past have included women's issues, depression, medications, service coordination, school issues and managing stress.
