The Neuroscience Institute at Maine Medical Center brings together clinicians, researchers and health care partners from several disciplines to provide the best possible care to people with brain, spinal cord, and nervous system disorders and diseases. As a regional center of excellence, we provide the highest quality neurological diagnostic and treatment resources to patients of all ages.

The Neuroscience Institute, in conjunction with the Barbara Bush Children's Hospital and Maine Neurology, has established a Pediatric Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) to diagnose, treat and care for patients and families that suffer from seizures and other similar disorders. The goal of admission is to capture these seizures on video and simultaneously record brain wave patterns to gain a more complete understanding of the symptoms and better direct appropriate treatment. The team consists of three highly trained epileptologists, two pediatric neurologists, pediatric nurses, support staff, and a designated patient and family liaison.
